Wrapping the hives happened just in time- 24 hrs later, the snow drops, and temperatures go possibly into the single digets in the next few days. That doesn't happen a lot here.

My house, with hives on the back roof, and a multitude of unfinished projects scattered about. My star watching chaise in snow, my ancient wheel barrow the same, and the Katsura trees planted as 1 inch saplings 25 years ago, now huge... |

Three hives in my neighbor's yard (one dead- in the middle) from the last blog entry , with their first layer of snow. More snow to come- it's past 10 as I write this, and still snowing. |

The 5 roof hives, nicely wrapped. and awaiting sunny, though a likely cold day. I won't OAV until there is sun- the cluster needs to break apart some and it's a waste of time to treat only the outside layer of bees. |

My stacked up supers- a mix of actual supers (honey storage) and dead outs (I use Westerns for everything, so some are brood framed). I spent a good few days going through these this summer to clean out the bad equipment. Still, at one point a few years back, all of these were on hives- but on a third made it this year. So- much less honey. |

The center of our garden, with a small swallow house- rarely used now- set up on a threaded one inch pipe. At it's base, a good sized Rosemary bush, and next to it, Thyme, all easily accessible. I've been cooking a lot- learning really- recently- and happy to have these plants around in winter. Next year more winter herbs! |
